We are planning to cruise in the Champagne region in 2017.
Our sort of 2017 Planned Meander
Leaving Roanne in Mid May we intend heading North along the Canal de Roanne a Digoin and then turn left into Canal Lateral a la Loire towards Briare and then head North and then East along the Seine and Yonne Rivers towards Auxerre to attend the DBA rally. From Auxerre we would return West along the Yonne and Seine Rivers until just before Paris and we hit the Marne river where we will head East towards the Champagne region which will take us along the Canal Lateral a la Marne and the Champagne a Bourgogne Canal. Then we will take the Petite Saone and the Saone River south until we turn into the Canal du Centre heading back towards Roanne for winter mooring.
This equates to a total of 1400 km and 387 locks over 143 days of cruising.
The nice thing about meandering is there are no time restrictions and no set route – just an idea
